Expanding the quantum ecosystem

Quantum training for professionals and students closes the quantum knowledge gap

The advancement of quantum technologies, including quantum computers and quantum sensors, is disrupting the way that organizations across all industries conduct business. From cybersecurity to energy grid optimization and logistics improvements, understanding the risks and identifying the opportunities with quantum technologies is critical for organizations to realize a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

“Quantum technologies, like quantum computing, are rapidly evolving, and this presents unchartered territory for businesses. Gaining an understanding of quantum technologies and potential applications can position organizations to navigate emerging risks,” said Katanya Kuntz, founder and CEO of Qubo Consulting Corporation. Dedicated to making quantum accessible, Qubo Consulting is on a mission to support the growth of the Canadian quantum ecosystem and provide foundational quantum training for both professional and student audiences.

Together with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Qubo offers quantum training certification for business and technical leaders. The two certificate programs, Quantum for Executives and Quantum for Engineers, are designed to address the quantum knowledge gap, increase quantum literacy and expose executives and engineers to quantum technologies.

“There is an immediate need in the workforce for quantum training,” said Surinder Padem, NAIT’s Program Manager – Digital Literacy & IT Training, Corporate & Continuing Education. “Quantum technologies are evolving and many businesses are looking for ways to upskill and retrain employees. NAIT is pleased to offer this unique educational experience for professionals in collaboration with Qubo Consulting.”

Courses are offered online through live delivery and available globally, starting November 18. No prior knowledge of quantum is required to participate. Courses include a variety of topics for executives and engineers, including Quantum Solutions for Executives, Quantum Computing Use Cases, and Data Security & Quantum Communication. In a series of workshops for postsecondary students, Qubo in collaboration with Mitacs aims to equip emerging talent with the skills and knowledge to drive the quantum ecosystem forward. Participants will learn about quantum technologies and their applications through live lectures and interactive case studies, designed for technical and non-technical audiences. The workshops are available with bilingual support in both English and French from a francophone quantum expert with the Quantum AlgoLab, Institut Quantique, Universitè de Sherbrooke. Launching online in January, the training is open for free registration to university students, postdoctoral fellows and affiliates across the globe on the Mitacs Edge Website.

“Qubo Consulting is committed to making quantum accessible,” said Kuntz. “We are supporting the growth of the quantum ecosystem by providing targeted, quality quantum training in a way that is both engaging and informative. In collaboration with our partners, NAIT and Mitacs, we are closing the quantum knowledge gap and preparing engineers, scientists and executives to deploy quantum technologies.”
