So you’ve heard about quantum computing in the news—either that it is the next great technological revolution or that it is a mess of overhype driven by venture capital. As a physics education researcher who studies the teaching and learning of quantum computing amid the so-called “quantum revolution,” I will share how my own perspective on quantum computing has changed and become more nuanced throughout the many twists and turns of my career. And while I cannot decide for you on the merits of quantum technology, I aim to provide you with the scientific and cultural tools to make your own informed judgments as an informed member of the scientific community.
